Cookie Policy
This page lists every cookie and similar browser storage this site uses, what each one is for, and which ones only run if you say yes.

1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser so it can remember something between page loads. This site also uses local storage, which does much the same job. Where this policy says “cookies”, it means both.
2. How we group them
We split cookies into two groups, and treat them very differently:
- Strictly necessary— the site cannot do what you've asked without them: keeping you signed in, remembering your cookie choice, protecting the forms from abuse. These are always on, and you can't switch them off without breaking the site.
- Analytics — these help us understand which pages are useful. They are off by default and only run if you actively choose to turn them on. If you ignore the banner, or close it without choosing, nothing analytics-related loads.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share browsing data with advertisers.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
All four are set by us — no third party is involved in any of them. You can see them for yourself under Cookies and Local storage in your browser's developer tools.

4. Analytics — only with your consent
These load only after you choose “Accept analytics cookies”:

Until you accept, no request is made to these services at all — the scripts are not loaded, rather than loaded and told to stay quiet.
The Google map on our contact pageis treated the same way. If you haven't accepted analytics cookies, you'll see our address and a button to load the map, so you can choose whether to contact Google's servers at all.
5. Measurement that doesn't use cookies
Our host, Vercel, provides aggregate visitor counts and page-speed measurement. It does not set cookies, does not store anything on your device, and does not build a profile of you or follow you across other websites, so there is nothing on your device to ask consent for. It is listed in our Privacy Policy for transparency.
Our servers and our rate limiting also briefly record IP addresses to keep the site online and stop the forms being abused. That happens on our side, not in your browser.
The Business Directory NZbadge in our footer is an image served from their site, so their server sees your IP address when it loads. It sets no cookie and doesn't track you, and we load it with no referrer information attached, so they aren't told which page you were on. It's listed in our Privacy Policy for completeness.
6. Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time, and turning consent off is exactly as easy as turning it on:
The same “Cookie settings” link is in the footer of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the strictly necessary ones included, though signing in won't work if you do.
7. Changes to this policy
