Description

It’s powered by the M43B18 single-cam 1.8L, and mechanically it’s in great shape. No leaks, the expansion tank is in good condition, the cooling system has been upgraded to an electric fan and both the A/C and heater work properly.

The interior is where this car really stands out. The original radio is still in place, door cards are excellent, the headliner is still tight with no sagging and the interior generally looks exceptionally good for a 29-year-old car. There’s one small tear in the driver’s seat which has been stitched over neatly to prevent it spreading while retaining the original appearance.

It’s also got some nice period touches, including an AC Schnitzer spoiler, complete BMW factory tool kit, spare wheel and the original steel wheels. It comes with another set of steelies and brand new BMW hub caps as pictured.

There are a couple of minor dents in the body, all shown in the photos. They’re good candidates for paintless dent removal, which I can organise for the buyer if desired.

A few other minor age-related things are worth noting: the glovebox button isn’t attached properly but still works, the windscreen cowl needs replacing, and the odometer LCD occasionally suffers from missing pixels. After a short time they generally come back and work perfectly, so it’s most likely just an ageing LCD screen — an inexpensive and straightforward fix.

This isn’t a flashy modified E36. It’s the opposite — a really clean, original, honest 318i that’s survived the last 29 years remarkably well. If you’ve been looking for an E36 that’s still got the original feel and hasn’t been messed with, this is worth a look.
